Double the Fun at Royale Ice Skating Rink, Kuala Lumpur.

So, you’ve probably heard of Royale Ice Skating Rink but, did you know that they have now got 2 ice rinks??!! Yes, 2!

We went over to check out their new set-up and just loved the space they’ve now got. Their original rink (Rink 1) is still there and is perfect for beginners or children wanting to use their little penguin aids to get around on the ice.

Penguins can be rented from the desk and really do help little ones stay upright on the ice!

Their newly installed rink, which is basically where the seating gallery for spectators used to be, is Rink 2 and wow – it’s lovely! Big, bright, with natural light….. a really great addition!

Now you get access to both rinks for the same price and admission allows you ALL DAY access; pop in, take a break, have lunch, and go back later to skate- it’s a great deal! The rink is open 7 days a week from 10am to 9pm giving you plenty of time to work on your skills!

With two rinks they can now hold special events and birthday parties in one, while keeping the other one open for drop-in skaters, meaning you’ll never be disappointed that they’ve closed the premises for a private event.

I also only just found out that if you do hold a party at Royale Ice Skating Rink that you have the option of using their colourful ‘Kiddies Land’ for your little guests! This space is located just behind the cafe and is suitable for children under 6 years old. Enquire with them directly here for any pricing or further details on birthday packages and events.

As their new ice rink has been built where there was a large seating area for spectators, fear not, you still get to watch what is happening on the ice. They still have their cafe with ample seating next to Rink 1, but if you fancy a warmer spot to watch the action, you can make use of their terrace with perfect views on Rink 2.

Look out for their fab promotions where they offer FREE skating lessons during the holidays for children aged 7 and above; their next session is between the 10th and 20th of September 2018, Happy skating everyone! S x

Blueblue Playland is a must-visit attraction in Ipoh

Every time I see photos of Blueblue Playland, I am so impressed by the space they have! They opened in January 2017 and boast an amazing 21,000sq. ft of recreational facilities for the whole family.

Far much more than ‘just a soft play centre’ they are Ipoh’s largest Playland spread over four floors with a wide offering of activities for children aged 0 to 15!

They house Master Jump, their trampoline park for the over 7s, which has some has amazing offers running including FREE lessons and FREE access on certain days of the week! Check out their current specials (correct at going to print in August 2018) and see how you can make the most of their jumping sessions!

They also have an entire sports complex for those wanting to play badminton at Master Badminton Club, or make use of their indoor futsal at Master Kick. Their space is perfect for special occasions, birthday parties and even school visits so check out their FB page here for further contact or any questions you may have.

I now have both my children begging me for a trip up to Ipoh so that they can try Blueblue out for themselves, so I guess I’d better start planning! Happy weekend everyone, S x

Climbing Adventures at Milky Way Play Space in Kuala Lumpur

Bright, colourful and nicely challenging for any little explorers out there – yes, we finally made it to Milky Way Play Space which opened over in Petaling Jaya at the beginning of the year!

Don’t let the size fool you, while it seems small, think of it more as being very compact, because they have packed a lot into the space they have at Paradigm Mall in PJ. There are a host of obstacles to tackle and several different levels of their play structure to make the most of, giving both children and adults a great way to put their balance, strength, and nerve to the test! Suitable for children aged 3 and upwards, this is taking family fun to a new level!

On first arriving we were asked to store our shoes in the cupboards and then went to get our gear on! It’s a case of safety first here, so you will wear a harness and be attached to the structure at all times. I spotted some helmets and while we weren’t offered them, you can of course get the little ones to wear one so that you’re more comfortable with them climbing!

Then you can make your way around the structure to attack 12 different obstacles. Work your way around the 4 sides, each time facing a different challenge from floating bridges, moving stairs, walls to climb, objects to wind in and out of…. and then do it all again or move on to something else!

The eye-catching climbing wall was popular with my two but they also have a large tubular slide, trampoline and a birds nest! Since our visit, they’ve also added a new Puzzle Land which is full of giant building blocks and puzzles, so if you add that to their 9D VR coaster, then there really is something for everyone!

As a spectator, I loved that they are located in an ‘atrium’ which meant I could take the escalator right next to their play land and go up to the next floor of the mall to watch my children from above (great for photo opportunities too!).

So whether it be for climbing and agility at Tiger Cub Road, getting creative in their Puzzle Land, or trying out some VR games, they’ve got a few options for you and the little ones!

Their pricing structure is below and allows you to either opt for an ‘à la carte’ approach and just pick out the activities you’d like to try, or packages where you get multiple activities included, either for a set period of time or with their full day access pass.

Check out their FB page and pop along to see them next time you’re at Paradigm PJ! S x

The New-Look Blokke. LEGO Cafe in Kuala Lumpur

We heard that one of our favourite kids’ cafes had gone through a refurbishment so we went to check out the new-look Blokke Cafe at Citta Mall.

Wow! They haven’t just done a re-fit, this has been one of the most amazing examples of expansion and transformation EVER! They’ve taken over the neighboring shop space on the 1st floor of the mall to make it bigger and better… but just as colourful and fun as before!

Their new playground was designed by the owner’s very own children so they’ve got everything covered! It’s a little LEGO-inspired village with roads and playhouses; you can zoom around on ride-ons, drive in and out of houses, hide out at the fire station, or stand guard at the policeman’s watch tower.

There’s a Construction Area with giant blocks for future builders to enjoy, or if your little one is looking for a bit more action, they can have fun at Monkey Island where you can trampoline, climb, and slide, or chill out in their oversized ball pit!

If you liked their original cafe dining area, fear not – this still exists and can be used for private events and birthday parties, but they now have a brand new cafe area with ample of seating and the cutest LEGO play zone with colourful bean bags and boxes of bricks for those who just want to get back to the basics of building their own creations in view of their parents while they eat.

With the expansion they have also added their own kitchen so food is cooked fresh on the premises throughout the day! Their menu offers everything from all-day breakfasts to salads, sandwiches, pastas and pizzas and they are open daily ( from 10am to 10pm on weekends, 9am to 9pm on weekdays, closed on Mondays).

Keep your eyes peeled for even more things happening at Blokke, from workshops in their new dedicated space, to school holiday programmes! For birthday parties and bookings, feel free to check out their FB page and drop them a message!

If ever there was a reason to go to Citta Mall – this is it! Family-dining at its absolute best. Enjoy, S x

Become a Pilot for the day at Flight Experience KL

I have a wannabe pilot at home, so we decided to head over to Flight Experience Kuala Lumpur during the school holidays so that both our children could clock up a few more air miles and pilot their very own airplane!!

Located in Pavilion KL on level 2, Flight Experience lets you get behind the controls of a Boeing 737, with a qualified pilot by your side, to fly their amazing simulator!

We arrived early for our flight, so before heading into the cockpit, my little Captains watched a couple of videos on the simulator and what they would be doing, and a second video teaching them the International Phonetic Alphabet used by pilots which was really fun!

Then we met our pilot and were taken over to the simulator. Wow, it really does feel like your stepping into a real cockpit on a real plane! An overwhelming amount of technology, screens and lights; my children were fascinated by it all!

Both children had their own turn of piloting the plane which meant they could each decide where in the world (which airport!) they were going to fly to from thousands that they had to choose from on their system. My son was up first with his day flight to London, followed by his sister off to Sydney, Australia! They even get to choose what kind of weather they wanted to encounter on their flight – I’m almost wish one of them had opted for a rainy day (just to see what effect that would have given us!!) but they both wanted a bit of sunshine!

With these flight sessions, you perform the take-off, get to do a bit of cruising, and then take the plane down to land at your destination! I was able to watch from the back of the cockpit and it was amazing and so realistic! The pilot let the children turn dials and push buttons; adjusting altitudes and taking the controls for different maneuvers, all while wearing headsets and communicating with each other.

I love the concept of the programme here but I also love that this is an activity for people of all ages – a great gift for dad on Father’s Day, or perfect for a little birthday party where the children can try out their Flying Start programme!

Prices start from RM250 for the children’s programme, and depending on what sort of flying experience adults want, you can book a flight starting from RM400 but it’s definitely worth following their FB page to keep an eye out for some great seasonal promotions that they advertise.

Kids’ Drift Car Racing in Kuala Lumpur!

BlastaCars – aptly named as we had a blast!

I can’t believe I had overlooked a drift car racing track right here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and then, when I saw that children could also take a turn at driving on the track, I knew we had to try it out!

Located on the 5th floor of Sungei Wang plaza in Bukit Bintang, this place is really quite a hidden gem. They’ve transformed an entire floor of their car park to make a 200 meter race track that snakes around pillars and tired walls, and has a very grunge feel about it!

On arrival, you’ll need to register on one of their computers and pick yourself a racing name! If you’re not racing, or if you fancy going along to check out what it’s all about, there’s a lot of space and seats for spectators so you can enjoy the action!

Before hitting the track, you get to watch a safety video with instructions on how to best drive your kart, and then you head over to get your helmets!

Our twins were first time drivers so we were trying out their ‘novice’ package but if you are a seasoned driver, or at least used to drift car racing, there are other levels that will suit you so you may be more interested in their ‘Advance’ and ‘Pro’ options!

Their junior programme is aimed at youngsters from 6 to 12 years old (but children should be 1m20 in height) and the cars are safe and secure, all to New Zealand standards where these specialized cars come from.

While my two didn’t exactly reach the greatest of speeds on the track for the first time, they thoroughly enjoyed being behind the wheel and trying to beat each other’s times! A ‘novice’ session starts at RM60, but increases to RM90 for their Advance level, and then to RM120 for their Pro level drivers who will need their ‘black card’ to qualify for driving their 390cc engine karts!

With space for groups, a great, unique location for a birthday party, or for getting some drifting practice, this place is worth a visit!

If you are there with a group of friends, they offer you the possibility of splitting up into two teams – while one group takes to the track, the others get to experience their VR space with multiple games to enjoy. They also have triple screen race simulators but I will admit to not seeing or trying those out!

BlastaCars is definitely an activity suited to both the little AND the big kids, but if it is just adults going along, be sure to try out that circuit at night! Not only do they have great views over the city from their 5th floor location, but they also get their glow on with laser lights and music – I need to go back to see this for myself, anyone up for it?! Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is OPEN in Malaysia!

Anyone planning on heading down south?!

If so, you’re in luck as the Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is now in it’s soft opening phase and open to the public! With a host of water slides and rides for the whole family, this looks like the perfect way to cool off in the Malaysian heat!

With 5 different wet and dry zones, there is something for everyone, and there are enough eateries and shopping opportunities in their Lifestyle Village to make a whole day of it! Just take a look belo at the view over the giant wave pool from their buffet restaurant ‘The Kelong’ – looks impressive!

Special opening rates for adults are RM75 (and just RM56 for children and seniors!) to enter for the entire day! The Waterpark is open daily from 10am to 6pm and their promotional rates will be valid until the end of September 2018.

Check out their FB page and, if you are going to visit, just be sure your favourite attractions are open as this is still just a soft opening! I love having another reason to pop down to Johor Bahru, so I guess I’d better get planning! S x

Amazing Flying Experience at AirRider in Kuala Lumpur!

When I first heard about the fabulous AirRider opening at 1Utama I was so excited – this is something I had always dreamed of trying.

So, for a school holiday treat, the three of us went over to see just how amazing this whole experience is – and I’m not even sure I have the words to describe just how exhilarating it was!

We booked our ‘flights’ in advance and you will be I formed at the time that you need to arrive 45 minutes in advance to get everything prepared. This includes registering at their main reception desk on one of their computers, signing a waiver and then heading into the main Centre where you will watch an introductory video, meet your Instructor, and get kitted our for your flight!

Helmets, goggles, and ear plugs are all provided, as well as your all-in-one flight suit! You’ll wear your suit over your normal clothes so dress in something comfortable and fairly well-fitting to make it easier. You’ll need proper shoes (sports shoes with laces are ideal) but if you forget and show up in your flip flops, they do have some shoes that you can borrow!

The fact that you are there before starting means that you also get to watch in the spectators gallery which is almost as fascinating as doing it yourself and sort of let us see exactly what we would be doing in a few short moments!!

I have to admit to feeling both excited and anxious all at the same time but there was no way I was backing out! There were great discussions between my twins as to ‘who was going to go first’ but things soon changed when it came to actually taking the plunge!!

With a quick recap of what to do you are taken into the outer glass chamber of the wind tunnel where you (and your group) will stay and wait throughout the experience. Suddenly my children decided it was me who was going first so there I was standing in the doorway, stood with my arms up, back arched, and poised ready to let myself fall into the right d tunnel!

Once you’re in the sound is overwhelming but the sensation is fantastic! We experienced a 50-second flight with our instructor, and then on our second turn, we went for the ‘Highride’ with one of their top instructors which, as the name might suggest, meant we were flown up in a spiral to the top of the tunnel and back down again – WOW!

Both my son and daughter had a go and we all agree it was just the most amazing experience! There are many different packages available, the one we took was for two flights each (each flight lasts for 50 seconds which believe it or not is more time than you’d have in the air if you were to go skydiving!!) and included a normal trial flight and then the HighRide – a totally amazing experience that I can definitely recommend! If you want to see what that flight looks like, check out my FB post and video here! Flight sessions start from RM89 which includes two flights in the tunnel per person.

But as this is also ideal for children (as young as 3!!) then it makes it a very unique place to get a group together for a birthday party or even to enroll them into the AirKids program for 6-16 year olds, which will see youngsters really learning the art of flying and perfecting their skills!

So…. anyone tempted to go flying?!

Check out the AirRider website here for packages and more information, S x
