5 Kids’ activities with a difference in KL

We love our sports, music, dance and art programmes and I’ve always featured different places on my page that we’ve tried out. But these typical activities, aren’t’ for everyone and of late I’ve been seeing a few nice, new, and original ideas coming up that are definitely worth a look at. Whether it be learning the art of Chinese Calligraphy, discovering the basics of sewing, becoming a scientist who gets to do loads of experiments, or mastering a new language, there is literally something for everyone with classes popping up all around KL. Here are my 5 suggestions for this week….. Why not let the little ones give it a try?!

SGD Spanish Academy:

This Spanish Academy offers a fun and different way to learn this beautiful Latin language. With classes designed specifically for children aged 3-9 years of age, they will enjoy activities and cultural experiences to help submerge them into their new language. Located in the heart of KLCC, courses run every Saturday from 9-10.30am. Spaces are limited so contact @nuriaromansgd@gmail.com for information and reservations.

Clay Expression:

Monthly kids workshops are held every 4th Saturday of the month and allow children to get messy and creative all at the same time!

Sessions run from 12-1.15pm and the schedule for the rest of 2017 is as follows:

27th of May

24th of June

22nd of July

26th of August

23rd of September

28th of October

25th of November

23rd of December

The Clay Expression pottery studio is located in Subang Jaya where Cindy also offers classes for adults or can even offer new parents the chance to get their little ones hand and footprints set in clay to make the perfect baby souvenir. All inquiries should be sent to cindy@clayexpression.com

Art Genius:

While you may be familiar with Art Genius for their art courses, their new offering that just started last month is their Kids Chinese Calligraphy Class!

Available for slightly older children from 7-12 years of age, these classes held on a Thursday evening from 7.00pm will get children learning this beautiful technique. If you’re interested in their class, please drop them an email on creative@artgenius.com.my

Little Tailors:

These sewing classes for kids are run by Kelly, who is a certified Early Childhood Educator and who loves to share a fun and relaxing way to introduce youngsters to the world of sewing.

Held at Hobby N Coffee in TTDI on specific Saturdays, it’s an activity that parents can join too, along with their children. Kelly offers classes for adults too, but this is definitely the moment to sign up for a creative Sewing Class for Kids for ages 8 and above.

Hobby N Coffee, 12 Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2,

Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur,

Kiddo Science Centre:

Kiddo Science Centre is all about making science fun and intriguing. It allows children to discover science at a very young age and encourages them to perform hands-on experiments while working with teachers passionate about what they are teaching.

Their ‘Kiddo Science Programme’ is available for children aged 5-12 years of age, so contact them for more details on enquiry@kiddo.com.my

  1. These are all such brilliant activities for the kids! I used to do pottery class when I was a little kid and totally enjoyed it. But I think it’s super important to learn new languages so if I had a kid he would go straight to the spanish class 🙂
