A family getaway to Penang. Part 1; Street Art in George Town

We are spending the long weekend in Penang and have discovered the sheer delights of the ‘Street Art’ in George Town.

“Boy on Chair” located on Cannon Street and one of my favourites!

Armed with a map, the four of us have relished walking around this fabulous city in search of these works of art which are so clever and cute and add a certain charm to the capital city of the island.

“Children playing Basketball” is fairly well-hidden but my little boy was eager to join in the fun!
Now while it is extremely hot and humid, we’ve just been sure to take a few stops to enjoy quaint little coffeeshops along the way.

“Kids on Bike” is a very popular one and you may have to take your turn to get a photo!

From the little boardwalks of the Clan Jetties, to the hustle and bustle of the colourful Armenian Street, our two children have made a game of finding these murals and have loved posing with them!

Off they go along the boardwalks of the jetty in search of the next piece of wall art!
There’s a lot of this street art to discover but most tourist outlets have a map with the walk route on it. While I wouldn’t want to do it with toddlers, our six year olds have really gotten into the whole thing!

“Children from the Window” is located on the famous Armenian Street along with a few other beauties.
Absolutely loving our time in Penang, S x

  1. What a lovely blog!

Yeap, the ‘kids on the bicycle’ art is so famous that one of the local gold company used the image for their 0.5g gold nugget casing. Let me know if you’re interested ๐Ÿ˜‰
