Madmonkeyz Climbing Gym – Fun for kids in KL

Madmonkeyz Climbing Gym – When I heard the name of this place I knew I had to take my two adventurers over to check it out!!

What to look out for! The building where the Madmonkeyz Climbing gym is located

This wasn’t our first time at a climbing centre in KL but it was a completely different experience to our past trials! Located in Wangsa Maju, this is not a big fancy place (it’s easy to drive by without even noticing it) and you don’t need all the ropes and equipment of other places. It feels a little cramped which means it gets quite warm inside and leaving a few windows open to ventilate didn’t help! However, the staff are friendly, they offer really good packages for children’s lessons, and the price is pretty much unbeatable!

The inside of the centre. This is their first floor set-up. Up on the second floor there is twice the space

Inside you are met with two floors of colorful walls, with colourful handgrips and big inflatable crash mats on the floor for protection! Having filled in forms and paying for two mini climbers, they were then fitted for their special climbing shoes before being asked to watch a short introductory video on the basics of climbing and safety.

Let the climbing begin! No ropes but big crash mats beneath you (just in case!)

Then it was pretty much all systems go and my two little monkeys have climbed to their heart’s content!! Although there aren’t the high-rise walls to scale, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s easy! Routes around the centre are colour-coded so you can start comfortably and work you way through the levels.

As the centre is located in a converted two-storey building there are doorways and separate rooms to climb around!

There’s over-hangs and different angles to maneuver around and we’ve seen adults struggle in areas!

A great test of agility climbing around corners and different shapes!

It’s a test of mental agility as much as it is a physical one.

The Puzzle Wall – trying to find the next step…

Their ‘puzzle wall’ was a favourite with everyone whereby all the hand and foot grips are numbered so your challenge is to climb the wall in the right order – and no, they haven’t made it easy!

The challenge is on!! Taking on a few competitors!

When you are there climbing is unlimited!! This is not an hour session; instead you can come and go as you please (for example take a break for lunch and come back in the afternoon) or stay right through to 11pm!

This section is more suited to experienced climbers but it was fun to sit and watch the professionals!

If you want to see if climbing is something that might interest your child, then go here to try it out. It’s small and gets slightly warm, but is so affordable, that you may just find yourself taking out a membership (at just 30RM!) which will then give you unlimited climbing sessions for the little ones at just 10RM a time! I told you, this is an extremely good deal! Happy climbing, S x

If you’re looking for climbing gear, they have a nice amount of equipment for sale.
